Hotel Description:

Sohotel New York is a historic hotel with moderate rates, located in lower Manhattan on Broome Street (off Bowery Street), a few steps from Little Italy and China Town. The hotel is convenient to Manhattan's most exciting neighborhoods and easy walking distance to restaurants, theaters, and clubs.

First known as The Westchester, then The Occidental, and most recently, The Pioneer, the hotel is the place where William Waldorf Astor (the man for whom the "Waldorf Astoria" is named), John L Sullivan, Gentleman Jim Corbet, Big Tim Sullivan (the multi-millionaire and Robin Hood of politics), and the likes of Pat Forley (the politician), dined and stayed in the good old days. Sohotel New York was built just north of the spot where the British once had a barrier gate, and where George Washington entered the Bowery with his troops and took command of the City, setting up the government of the United States on November 25, 1783.

Sohotel NYC is conveniently located in the historic Bowery area in lower Manhattan. The great performers of their time, such as Weber and Field, George M. Cohen and Eddie Cantor are just a few of the many actors and singers who succeeded in the Bowery theaters. The Historic Bowery was the place to be for pleasure, music and, always, for politics. The hotel is convenient to many of Manhattan's most exciting neighborhoods: SoHo, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, China Town, and Tribeca, and within walking distance of numerous restaurants, art galleries, museums, theaters, shops, movie theaters, and music and dancing clubs.

Sohotel New York was recently renovated. All of the guest rooms have a private bath and daily maid service. Hairdryers and irons are available at the concierge, 24 hours.
